Twenty years ago, in a sunlit classroom at the New School in Manhattan, a group of kindred spirits gathered for a class on the blues. Led by the head rooster himself, Billy T., they bonded over the soulful wail of the harmonica, the aching bends of the guitar, and the driving pulse of rhythm that could shake the walls. That class became the incubator for what would eventually grow into Blue Rooster Pie.Over the years, members came and went, each bringing their own flavor to the mix. But the heart of the band—that gritty, joyous, unmistakable blues energy—remained. Today’s lineup is the culmination of two decades of evolution, featuring a cast of characters as vibrant as the music itself:

On blues harp, vocals, and foot tambourine, Billy T turns up the flame with fiery licks and a soulful edge.On saxophone, the big man Justin Tinker, whose soulful solos could make the Statue of Liberty tap her foot.On bass, the magician himself, the magical and mighty Oz, weaving grooves so tight they feel like a spell.On drums, the animalistic Billy Zules, pounding out rhythms with the raw energy of a freight train.And on guitar and vocals, the blues guitar man from the East (that’s Brooklyn), Andrew Ingkavet, who channels the soul of the city with every note he plays.
